Tradition since 1919
In 1919 Sidney Goldmann founded the chemical trading company S. Goldmann when he began importing borax and boric acid from the United States for use in the ceramic, enamel, glass and fertilizer industry.
In 1924 the product range was enlarged to include Antimonytrioxide. This was first used as an opacifier for enamel, as a colour pigment and in the manufacture of glass. It is now mainly used as a flame retardent. It still belongs to one of the major products distributed by the worldwide operating chemical trading enterprise S. Goldmann.
In 1953 Walter Goldmann took over the management of the company after the death of his father Sidney. He continued the family tradition by steadily expanding the trading activities in the direction of advisory-intensive speciality chemicals and dyes.
In 1960 business with plastic raw material commenced with the introduction of Cycolac-ABS on the German market. This led to the establishment of GKG Goldmann Kunststoffe which offers a wide range of thermoplastics for the plastic moulding industry.
In 1971 an additional company, Goldmann Produktion, was founded. This has specialized in the production of candle colours for the candle industry. Herewith a group of legally independent companies was formed: the Goldmann Group.
In 1994 Rainer Goldmann, the third generation, joined the company. This has ensured the continuation of the Goldmann Group in the successful family tradition.
In 1997 the Goldmann Group expanded its activities to Eastern Europe and Asia. Goldmann H.S.H. was founded in Warsaw to market speciality chemicals, dyes, thermoplastics and candle colours in Poland. In the same year the Goldmann Representative Office in China was established to coordinate imports and exports of chemicals.
